Branded Research is currently seeing an experienced System Administrator to maintain, manage, and upgrade our software and hardware. You should have experience with both on-premise systems as well as cloud solutions. You will be required to diagnose, communicate, and resolve problems quickly on a daily basis, but also drive long-term strategy that maximizes value of the IT stack to Branded Research. You’ll also be working very closely with the product and engineering teams to oversee the continuous deployment of new features to our customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install and configure software and hardware
  • Manage network servers and technology tools
  • Set up accounts and workstations
  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and models
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
  • Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies
  • Provide regular status summaries to executive team about the health of the IT system
  • Research new technology stacks to check viability of services

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Linux System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Knowledge of hardware and software installation, testing and operation, knowledge of application of computer software for automating highly diverse agency/organization activities
  • Capability and capacity of various software products/communication utilities
  • Knowledge of the principles of data communications and telecommunications
  • High-level problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Ability to create scripts in Bash, Python, Perl or other language
  • Our stack is varied, depending on the problem we’re solving. You should either have experience with these stacks, or be able to research on your own:
  1.     LAMP (required)
  2.     Redis
  3.     MariaDB (required)
  4.     ProxySQL/Galera
  5.     HAProxy
  6.     Amazon AWS (particularly S3, SQS, SNS)
